List of NHS Limb Centres
A majority of children will visit their local NHS Centre. What many people do not know is that you can speak to your GP and be referred to another clinic. If you move house you can often stay at your clinic or visit your GP to ask to be referred to a new NHS Clinic.
Having a good relationship with your NHS Limb Centre and, in particular, your child’s Prosthetist is key to help you support your child. We have listed below all the NHS Prothetic Clinics with contact details.
It’s important to remember that you may have to make multiple visits to your child’s Limb Centre particularly when getting a new prosthesis or orthotic aid. If possible ask other parents for their recommendations. If you don’t know any other families with a child with limb difference you can visit social media for groups that support parents with limb difference or specifically your child’s condition, or contact one of the charities that should be able to put you in touch with a family near you.
When you go for your first appointment ask your Limb Centre whether they have a children’s day or any social events that you could join to meet other parents.
If you have any problems with your NHS Limb Centre you can contact Carly Bauert at carly@limbpower.com who will be able to pass on your email to the Commissioner of Prosthetics. This is done very sensitively so as not to affect your relationship with your Limb Centre. The process is more about helping both the Limb Centre and yourselves to have a productive relationship. We want to support you to get the best care possible in your local Limb Centre and the aim of the NHS is to nationalise the quality of care.
